Your Friday Tiki Bar Cocktail: The Royal Hawaiian

Most popular cocktails series - Mai Tai and Blue HawaiianThis refreshing Gin & pineapple concoction goes back a long way to the early Tiki Bars of the 20th Century. At least I think so. Actually I couldn’t find a damned thing on when it was invented or who came up with it, so if any of you kids know, please leave a comment!

Refreshing and exotic, The Royal Hawaiian is as alluring as its name. It’s simple to make and perfect to relax with on a warm, sunny day by the pool or beach. If it’s not warm where you are, then close the blinds, crank up the heat, put on your favorite Martin Denny album and relax in your living room with this wonderful hooch.

1 1/2 oz Gin
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
1 oz pineapple juice
1/4 oz orgeat syrup

Shake it all up in a shaker with crushed ice and strain into a Martini Glass, or serve it over the rocks in a Tiki Mug or hurricane glass. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and cherry in one of those little plastic swords and drink up!
